HotSpot: a compact thermal modeling methodology for early-stage VLSI design   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
This paper presents HotSpot-a modeling methodology for developing compact thermal models based on the popular stacked-layer packaging scheme in modern very large-scale integration systems. In addition to modeling silicon and packaging layers, HotSpot includes a high-level on-chip interconnect self-heating power and thermal model such that the thermal impacts on interconnects can also be considered during early design stages. The HotSpot compact thermal modeling approach is especially well suited for preregister transfer level (RTL) and presynthesis thermal analysis and is able to provide detailed static and transient temperature information across the die and the package, as it is also computationally efficient.  相似文献

Summary Novel PUs containing pyridinium moieties were synthesized by chain extending isocyanate endcapped prepolymers with N, N’-bis (2-hydroxyethyl) isonicotinamide. The pyridinium moieties in the PUs were chemically crosslinked using short-chain divalent quaternising agents. The polyurethane cationomers were characterized by spectral, thermal and mechanical analysis. Spectral results confirmed the quaternisation of tertiary nitrogen leading to crosslinking. Compared to conventional PUs, the crosslinked PU networks exhibited improved thermal stability. The damping value (i.e.) tan δ for cationomers were improved over a broad temperature range when compared to conventional PU.  相似文献

Multicasting is becoming increasingly important in today's networks. In optical networks, optical splitters facilitate the multicasting of optical signals. By eliminating the transmission of redundant traffic over certain links, multicasting can improve network performance. However, in a wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) optical network, the lack of wavelength conversion necessitates the establishment of a single multicast circuit (light-tree) on a single wavelength. On the other hand, establishing several unicast connections (lightpaths) to satisfy a multicast request, while requiring more capacity, is less constrained in terms of wavelength assignment. The objective of the paper is to evaluate the tradeoff between capacity and wavelength continuity in the context of optical multicasting. To this end, we develop accurate analytical models with moderate complexity for computing the blocking probability of multicast requests realized using light-trees, lightpaths, and combinations of light-trees and lightpaths. Numerical results indicate that a suitable combination of light-trees and lightpaths performs best when no wavelength conversion is present.  相似文献

1‐Vinylimidazole‐terminated telechelic polyurethanes were prepared from 1‐vinylimidazole and bromine‐terminated polyurethane. This vinyl‐terminated telechelic polyurethane (VTPU) and methyl methacrylate were polymerized in the presence of benzoyl peroxide to prepare novel AB crosslinked polymer networks (ABCPs). These were characterized by spectral, thermal and mechanical studies. The absence of the characteristic peak of vinyl group in infrared spectra of ABCP films confirms the occurrence of crosslinking. Static mechanical testing showed that the tensile strength of ABCP increases with increasing poly(methyl methacrylate) content. Dynamic mechanical studies revealed that ABCPs, at equal compositions of VTPU and methyl methacrylate, show good damping properties. Copyright © 2006 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Recent studies have identified a number of genes in the human genome at which germinal mutations predispose the individuals to one or another type of cancer. These studies also show that not all individuals carrying the mutant genes develop cancers (i.e., the mutant genes are not fully penetrant). At least some of these predisposed genotypes also have a higher sensitivity to cancers induced by ionizing radiation than those who are not so predisposed, which may be dependent on dose. This paper presents an analysis of the impact of such heterogeneity on estimates of cancer risks for an irradiated population. This is done by extending the Mendelian one-locus, two-allele model of cancer predisposition and radiosensitivity developed earlier to allow for incomplete penetrance and dose dependence of radiosensitivity differentials among genotypes. The model is applied to recently published data for breast cancer and hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer using a range of possible values for the strength of predisposition and radiosensitivity differentials. It is shown that, after radiation exposures, the ratio of cancer risks in a heterogeneous population relative to that in a homogeneous population increases with increasing dose, but that the dose dependence of the relative risk diminishes at higher doses. Likewise, the attributable risk (i.e. the proportion of the increase in risk that is due to both increased susceptibility and increased radiosensitivity) and the proportion of attributable risk due to increased radiosensitivity also increase with dose, and the dose dependence of each measurement also diminishes at higher doses. However, when the proportion of cancers due to the susceptible genotypes is small (<10%) (as is likely to be the case for breast cancer in non-Ashkenazi women), the increases in the relative risk and attributable risk are marked only when there are very large increases in cancer susceptibility (>1000-fold) and radiosensitivity (>100-fold) in the susceptible group. When the proportion of cancers due to the susceptible genotypes is appreciable (> or = 10%) (as may be the case for breast cancer in Ashkenazi Jewish women), there may be large increases in the relative risk and attributable risk for comparatively modest increases in cancer susceptibility (>10-fold) and radiosensitivity (>100-fold) in the susceptible subpopulation. For any given combination of strength of predisposition and radiosensitivity differential, incomplete penetrance dilutes the effect.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Organized cervical cytology screening programs are not feasible in many developing countries where cervical carcinoma is an important cause of mortality among adult women. This study compared visual inspection of the cervix after application of 3-4% acetic acid (VIA, or cervicoscopy) with cytology as methods for the detection of cervical carcinoma and its precursors. METHODS: Three thousand women were examined by both VIA and cytology. Those positive on one or both of the screening tests (n = 423) or those who had clinically suspicious lesions even if the tests were negative (n = 215) were invited for colposcopy. Directed biopsies were obtained from 277 of 573 women at colposcopy. Those with moderate dysplasia or worse lesions diagnosed by histology were considered true-positives. Those with no lesions or with reactive or reparative changes at colposcopy and those for whom histology revealed no pathology, reactive or reparative changes, atypia, or mild dysplasia were considered false-positives. The detection rate of true-positive cases and the approximate specificity of the two tests were compared. RESULTS: VIA was positive in 298 women (9.8%), and cytology was positive (for atypia or worse lesions) in 307 women (10.2%). Of the 51 true-positive cases (20 cases of moderate dysplasia, 7 of severe dysplasia, 12 of carcinoma in situ, and 12 of invasive carcinoma), VIA detected 46 (90.1%) and cytology 44 (86.2%), yielding a sensitivity ratio of 1.05. VIA detected five lesions missed by cytology, and cytology detected three missed by VIA; both missed two lesions. The approximate specificities were 92.2% for VIA and 91.3% for cytology. The positive predictive value of VIA was 17.0%, and that of cytology was 17.2%. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that VIA and cytology had very similar performance in detecting moderate dysplasia or more severe lesions in this study. VIA merits further evaluation as a primary screening test in low-resource settings.  相似文献

Dynamic response of flexible-link mechanism (structure) when subjected to external dynamic load is analyzed. The non-linear equations of motion are discretized using the finite element method (FEM) and Newmark time integration method combined with Newton-Raphson iterative technique is used for solution. Discrete-time analysis of two schemes for multiplexing voice and data is presented. In each scheme voice and data are multiplexed using the movable boundary frame allocation scheme. In the first scheme, speech activity detectors (SAD's) are not used, and hence, the variations in the voice traffic are only due to the on/off characteristics of voice. In the second scheme, SAD's are employed so that talker silences can he utilized for transmission of additional voice and/or data. In this scheme, the multiplexer performs digital speech interpolation as well as movable boundary frame allocation. The performance measures considered are probability of loss for voice calls, probability of speech clipping, speech packet rejection ratio, and the expected data message delay. In the case of the multiplexer with SAD, a tradeoff exists between data message delay and speech interpolation advantage. Some numerical examples are presented which illustrate the performance of the two multiplexers.  相似文献
